Focus Groups/Workshops/Webinars

In-person training sessions are offered in small groups to allow for more attention to specific individual needs, questions and instruction for each participant.   These are provided at Med-Rec Systems located at 712 Adams Street, Carmel, IN, in the 1st Floor conference room.  Participants may dress comfortably.

Workshops are offered in a larger classroom style setting and include general subject matter designed for the participant to gain knowledge and understanding of the content discussed. Group discussion with question and answer period will be included.

Virtual training is offered via Zoom.  Invitations to the event are submitted to the email address provided at the time of registration.

    Oversight of the health information department and medical records (paper or EHR) is crucial in staying up-to-date with the ever changing healthcare environment.  This course will focus on the basic training needs to understand and complete tasks for a compliant and efficient department.   Participants will be provided with both regulatory and best practices, along with material and resources to enhance the training and to take back to their facility for use.   

    Although this course is designed for the for the those new to the health information department, it is equally valuable for those who assist, oversee the medical records coordinator, or need a refresher course.   For more information regarding topics discussed, go to Course Descriptions.

    The importance of complete and accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding cannot be overemphasized.  All coders and those associated with assigning diagnosis codes must be trained on the requirements, instructions, and guidelines.  Participants will understand how to accurately assign codes, apply coding conventions, and be updated to the NEW Official Guidelines and diagnosis codes for 2027.  An overview of  the PDPM reimbursement system will be addressed with an emphasis on ICD-10-CM chapter-specific codes that impact payment classification. 

    This course is designed for all levels of coders, including those new to ICD-10-CM coding, who have never been formally trained, or need a refresher.  Billers, therapists, and other staff that are part of the facility's team that assigns and/or reviews ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes should also attend.  For more information, go to Course Descriptions.

    Participants must bring a current ICD-10-CM book.  New training examples will be provided to enhance understanding and application of the diagnosis codes.
